SOFE is a recurrent client for Menard, as we have already carried out works on a similar 20 Ha area. This project concerned the Danish quay that was built two years ago by others, and which consisted on a 15 m wide slab on piles with a sheet pile wall (land side) to allow a slope to start at -2.0 down to -7.0 in front of the quay. SOFE requested an increased bearing capacity on the land side to allow movement of their 240 t crane as well as deepening the depth by dredging in front of the quay down to -10.0. Menard designed and installed soil mixing columns to increase both the bearing capacity and to lower the earth pressure acting on the sheet piles.
