Rehabilitation of the basin of the Dunkirk Port, France
As part of the rehabilitation of a basin in the Port of Dunkirk, Menard was awarded the construction of a sheet pile wall, the creation of anchors, the filling and the construction of a new quay as well as the demolition of the old quay.
In order to limit the settlements and to ensure the load-bearing capacity of the new structure, Menard proposed the vibrocompaction technique in order to improve the characteristics of the dredged hydraulic fill.
The new sheet pile wall was instrumented during the treatment phases in order to measure the vibrations generated to it. Measurements show values under acceptable thresholds.
The site finished two weeks ahead of the initial schedule.
The Menard group develops foundation solutions based on ground improvement and reinforcement technologies. Its treatments eliminate the need for the deep foundations traditionally used to support surface structures.
