Initially, the decontamination of the « Stade de France » was not part of the project as the extent of the soil contamination by hydrocarbons was discovered only in later phases. In association with Antea, Menard used a modified version of the atmospheric consolidation technique (Menard Vacuum) to provide a solution to this problem. The system is still in use and regularly pumps the toxic vapours which tend to accumulate with time under the stadium.
